Welcome to the first edition of Let’s Talk Labor!
My name is Alex Quintero — I’m a union organizer, union member, and content creator. I’ve built a platform of nearly 60,000 followers across multiple platforms where I talk about labor organizing, worker rights, and the everyday worker fights for justice that are happening across the U.S.
I started AllThingsLabor after organizing three of my workplaces with my coworkers. That experience taught me something invaluable:
The best way to learn about worker power is to experience it.
Now, I’m teaming up with SEIU and the Fight for a Union campaign to bring you a monthly newsletter designed for creators like you, people who already understand that this system isn’t working, who believe in justice, and who want to use their platform to lift the real struggles (and wins!) of working people.
You don’t need to be a policy expert to talk about unions.
You don’t need to be in a union yet to support the movement.
What you do need is a clear understanding of what unions are, why they matter, and how to talk about them in a way that’s bold, creative, and rooted in care for our communities.
Unions don’t just boost workers’ pay. Although union workers do earn more on average than non-union workers, they also protect your rights, improve job conditions, and give you real power on the job. Unions are one of the most powerful forces we have to fight back against the rise of fascism and corporate control.
Why Fight For A Union?
You might’ve heard of it before. Fight for a Union is the next phase of the Fight for $15 campaign. It’s about:
Respect & Dignity on the job
Racial and economic justice
A real say in the conditions of our lives
This campaign is about making sure every worker, from baristas and rideshare drivers to home care workers and college athletes, can build collective power that lasts.
A union isn’t something you have, it’s something you build. A union isn’t a service, it’s a community. And you don’t build it alone. A union belongs to workers (the rank-and-file).
In your journey to create more content about working people’s lives, ily their fights, and their opponents, consider giving them a follow ➡️

Labor 101: So… What Is a Union?
A union is a group of workers who come together to demand better conditions and organize to win them.
You don’t have to work in a factory or wear a hard hat to be in one. If you’ve ever struggled with unfair pay, unsafe conditions, or been fired with no cause, then a union can benefit you.
Unions fight for:
Higher pay and better benefits
Job security (Just Cause vs. At-Will employment)
A voice in decisions at work
Enforcement of your rights (like access to a union steward during disciplinary meetings, aka Weingarten Rights)
& much more!
As someone with a platform, your voice can cut through the anti-union rhetoric that so many people have internalized. You have the power to tell new stories, true stories, that bring workers together instead of keeping us isolated, afraid, and upset at each other instead of the bosses and billionaires.
Who Belongs in the Labor Movement? You Do.
The truth:
The majority of us are part of the labor movement.
The only real question is:
✨ Are you an active member of the labor movement, or not?
Whether you're an artist, teacher, service worker, nonprofit staffer, or full-time content creator — you deserve protection, fairness, and dignity at work.
You don’t have to have all the answers to start showing up. You just have to be willing to learn, speak up, and connect your platform to something bigger than yourself. The labor movement is for all of us. And it needs all of us to win.
This System Wasn’t Built for Us
The truth:
The federal minimum wage is still $7.25 — a poverty wage.
Meanwhile, billionaires hoard trillions.
ICE gets billions more to detain and deport our people.
And school lunches, food assistance, and healthcare are on the chopping block.
This economy wasn’t built for us, it was built on us.
But every time a group of workers walks out, wins a union election, or locks in a strong contract, they’re not just winning better pay. They’re tipping the scale of economic inequality towards the working class. And your platform can help shine a light on it to tip the scale even further to benefit working folks.
What’s Next in This Series?
Over the next few months, we’ll cover topics that help you feel more confident, informed, and inspired to speak about labor organizing in your voice. This is your invitation to step deeper into the movement, not just to post about it, but to build it.
Because a general strike doesn’t start with a trending hashtag. It starts when we build real power. And when creators uplift labor with clarity, creativity, and confidence, we get one step closer to the world we all deserve.
In solidarity, Alex (AllThingsLabor) & FightForAUnion
